Overview
Paul represents Corporates, individual Directors and Senior Managers in Police and Regulatory investigations. He has a first class record in successfully defending CEOs, Financial Directors and Operations Directors in both regulatory and criminal proceedings.
Paul is also an expert in crisis management having acted for major clients in aircraft disasters, rail crashes, chemical explosions and other high profile Police and HSE investigations, successfully defending the ensuing criminal prosecution. Most recently, he has represented a number of clients in the Grenfell and Covid 19 Public Inquiries.
Not surprisingly, given the experience, Paul is a regular sought after speaker on crisis management and corporate manslaughter at both internal and external venues. He provides meaningful training to Senior Managers so that, should the worst happen, they are better equipped to handle a regulatory investigation and prosecution.
Inevitably, he has extended experience in Bribery and Fraud Investigations dealing with the Serious Fraud Office or the Metropolitan Police on behalf of the Client with most of his cases resulting in a negotiated settlement or a Deferred Prosecution Agreement.
As a seasoned corporate defence lawyer with over 30 years experience, Paul has seen the full gamut of regulatory investigations for a company before and knows how to solve them, often taking the lead in internal investigations. As a consequence, he employs sharp decision making under pressure, providing the Client with instant confidence and re-assurance in difficult serious circumstances.
